Independent Report
generalThis is perfect for any leisure traveller searching for a wonderful and peaceful retreat and yet still having access to nearby towns like Wrexham and Chester. The picturesque setting is coupled with the stunning beauty and history of the Hall itself (650 years worth). The size of the property means that you are made to feel very much at home and with food to match this is a highly recommended hotel. Guests also get free unlimited use of the Spa facilites (incl Hydro Pool, Steam room and sauna) at the sister hotel Wild Pheasant in Llangollen. (GW 07/2008)
lobbySmall and traditional in style but with friendly staff.
exteriorA former stately home exuding history from every corner of it's ancient Welsh ambience with wood panelling, stone mullion windows, huge oak beams and huge fireplaces. Bodidris Hall was built in 1465AD and since 2002 has had a full and sympathic internal refurbishment.
restaurantThe historic Baronial Restaurant serves outstanding classical dishes and offers a glimpse of a bygone age when nobility lived and dined in great style. The Lounge with it's huge fireplace and comfortable chairs is ideal for a pre-dinner drink and the award winning chefs prepare all meals from fresh and organic ingredients.
roomsAs you would expect from a stately home, the bedrooms are much large than in conventional hotels. All 9 bedrooms come with en-suite facilities, and many have the original exposed oak beams and four poster beds. They are completely individual in style.
locationBodidris Hall is nestled in isolated splendour within the midst of a 6,500 acre estate and reached by a mile-long drive where you will see a lake with ducks and swans striding majestically along. Although apparently isolated, the hotel is only 25 minutes from the historic Roman city of Chester and around 15 minutes to Wrexham. The hall is uniquely placed in that the county boundary between Denbigshire and Flintshire literally runs through the centre of hall.
