For those wanting a base in the Bernese Oberland which is a little off the touristic beaten track this hotel could provide the perfect answer. RY0703

The lobby is medium sized and creates a very positive first impression, being charmingly elegant.

This is a grand building with a well maintained, elegant facade.
restaurant
The main hotel restaurant is a particularly handsome room with a lovely high ceiling and elegant decor. For groups who book fondue menus, the hotel has a charming "cellar" restaurant which offers a cosy intimacy typical of Swiss mountain hotels.
rooms
Due to the age of the building the rooms vary considerably in size, but on the whole they are medium sized. They are traditional in decor and in very good condition. Most rooms have lovely views over the surrounding countryside, lake and mountains. The bathrooms are in good condition.
location
The hotel is located in the centre of the attractive village of Meiringen, best known for being featured in Sherlock Holmes novels. The Sherlock Holmes museum is right next to the hotel. Interlaken is just a short drive away.
