Independent Report
generalThis is a recently upgraded deluxe hotel which conveys a very warm atmosphere and it comes as no surprise to learn that it has won coveted prizes from such organisations as The Egon Ronay Guide and The Executive Travel Magazine. (0109 RPL)
lobbyThe hotel has a large and very imposing lobby which adjoins the lounge area where there is additional seating. At the end of the lobby, and surrounded by comfortable sofas, there is a huge, contemporary fire place. All public areas are brightly decorated with a grey marble floor, marbled columns and pictures on the walls. This is one of the best hotel lobby in London.
exteriorThis is a big, elegant Regency style building with added Art Deco features. Very imposing entrance and drive, where a group of doormen await the guests.
restaurantThe hotel has two restaurants. The Montagu restaurant has been relaunched and has already become a reference in London's West End. The modern decor, the views over Portman Square, the open, always busy kitchen and a wonderful menu has made of this restaurant a fantastic place to lunch and dine. Always busy, good atmosphere but somehow there's always a table available! Wooden furniture, neutral colours and wooden floors.
Worth mentioning is the other restaurant, Locanda Locatelli. This award wining, Michelin starred venue is one of the best London restaurants. Giorgio Locatelli, the master chef and owner, will satisfied the most demanding of guests.
The bar, The Churchill bar, is a lovely divan bar that resemblance a gentlemen club.
roomsThese rooms overlook the beautiful Portman Square and its gardens. The large rooms were all totally refurbished in 2007. These are light and elegantly decorated with neutral tones of beige and taupe. For an elegant, contemporary feel and to contrast with the soft furnishings, the furniture features dark chocolate stained woods, and contrasting walnut. Designer accessories and pieces of artwork add warmth and originality. Every detail has been accounted for, the Churchill style is unique, with a subtle blend of tradition, with the very finest of modern facilities. The marbled bathrooms have been redesigned using natural coloured materials with smart clean lines. Both the rooms and the marble bathrooms are in exceptional condition.
locationThe hotel overlooks Portman Square and its gardens, in the heart of London's exclusive Marylebone. It is very close to Marble Arch and Bond Street underground stations, and the famous Oxford Street for shopping. An unbeatable location.
