Heron Island is located right on the Barrier Reef. It is made up of coral and is ideal for nature lovers, researchers and divers. It has been declared a Marine National Park. You walk straight from the resort onto the Reef, which is teeming with marine life. There is an air conditioned presentation room for evening news, movies and sporting events. SS1108

The lobby is small.

Modern low-rise exterior. No building above the tree line.
restaurant
The restaurant is on the ground floor level, adjoins the pool area and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. The Lounge and Bar caters for light snacks and provides entertainment. A picnic hamper service is available on request.
rooms
The rooms are medium in size. The tiled floors and tropical, bright colours create the perfect holiday atmosphere. The bedrooms and bathrooms are in good condition. Note they are no TV's in the rooms to keep with the natural surroundings of the island.
location
Heron Island is a coral cay and lies on the Tropic of Capricorn, 72 kms north-east, off the coast from Gladstone in central Queensland. The flight time from Brisbane to Gladstone is approximately 80 minutes. There is a courtesy coach which departs from Gladstone airport daily at 10:00 am to Gladstone Marina (10-15 minutes away) to connect with the Heron Island air conditioned launch (departs at 11.00am) and takes approximate 2 hours. The launch is at an additional cost.
