A relaxed, welcoming traditional hotel in the heart of Durham City on the banks of the River Wear, this hotel offers luxurious bedrooms and excellent hospitality for the business and leisure guest alike.

All rooms are very well equipped and furnished in a traditional style, but with all of the amenities expected for such a high class hotel. Some rooms overlook the river; all are medium in size and in very good condition.

The hotel has two restaurants for dining, the relaxed Bowes Restaurant or the more formal County Restaurant which has been awarded 2 AA rosettes for fine dining.

It is a traditional hotel dating from 1630. It has a Georgian facade and modern extension.
