Independent Report
generalWinner of the World's Best Luxury Country Hotel and topping My Guide Ireland's Top 10 Hotels in Ireland, this lovingly restored castle hotel blends its historic past with a dash of contemporary luxury. You step into an imposing Tudor baronial castle, lavishly refurbished in 2007 and extended to create the modern comforts and graceful luxury of a world class boutique hotel. With stunning views amidst hundreds of acres of unspoiled woodlands, the landscape is as magnificent as the hotel itself. Truly World Class. (GW 10/2011)
lobbyThe elegant lobby is medium sized and tiled in white marble. There are small snugs away from the main entrance where guests can settle to relax. There's a grand piano for those brave enough!
exteriorAn exciting and authentic castle appearance with many original features reproduced faithfully. The hotel is a meticulously restored 17th century castle, but the roots of the property can be traced as far back as the 1400's. The current building was rebuilt after a fire in 1939 but has maintained many features, where ever possible, of the original design. There is a large tower sat centrally in the main facade of the building and a wide pebbled drive and fountain directly in front.
restaurantThe hotel's restuarant is rapidly gaining a reputation locally and across the wider Irish dining landscape as being at the forfront of Irish cuisine. The menu is designed by the hotel's executive chef and changes quite regularly, the staple dishes are all based on traditional Irish recipes and the majority of ingredients are locally sourced.
roomsAll of the rooms within the hotel are designed to remind guests of the original Gealic heritage of the castle. They blend into this appreciation of the past a real understanding of what contemporary guests will require. Each room is decorated to the highest standards and are in excellent condition. Rooms are medium or large in size and all feature bespoke furnishings and antiques.
locationLough Eske Castle, a Solis Hotel & Spa sits within 43 acres of forest woodland, hugging the shores of Lough Eske, with the Blue Stack Mountains in the background. This is the wild and beautiful heart of Irelands Northernmost county, Donegal where the hotel sits just outside of the town.
