Independent Report
generalThis hotel is in a prime location in the centre of Amsterdam and suitable for those who are looking to be close to the red light district and China town, one of the busier areas of Amsterdam. However, it is located on a small side street opposite a canal and so is quieter than most of the streets in the area. jg/05/2007
lobbyThe lobby is medium-sized and was also renovated in 2006. It now benefits from a trendy feel, with brown carpeting, gold velour seating and modern lighting. There are also futuristic stools and tables offering an updated and vastly improved atmosphere. The lobby is split level and there are steps up to the reception area which may not be ideal for people with walking difficulties.
exteriorThis is a traditional building in keeping with the buildings in the area and are typical Dutch style.
restaurantThe breakfast room is located in the Irish pub directly next to the hotel. It is a popular and cosy eating establishment and serves a hearty breakfast. In the summer, there is seating along the canal.
roomsThe bedrooms are small and basic though recently refurbished with wood floors and wood furniture. They are in good condition as are the bathrooms and all have individual air conditioning. The bathrooms are basic with white tiling and some have shower only and some have bath and shower although these room types cannot be guaranteed.
locationThis hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam, close to Central Station and at the edge of the Red Light District. It is within easy access of the main shopping district of Amsterdam and a short tram ride to the majority of museums which are located on the Museumplein.
